What is the difference between Outback and Outback Next bike trailer?
Publisert: 30.04.2026
Suspension and ride experience
Outback Next takes comfort a step further with improved suspension:
- Outback Next: Suspension on both the rear wheels and the stroller wheel. Adjustable on the rear wheels.
- Outback: Adjustable suspension on the rear wheels only.
The additional front suspension on the Outback Next provides a smoother and more stable ride, especially on uneven terrain and during more active use.
Stroller wheel and ease of use
Outback Next is designed with everyday convenience in mind:
- The stroller wheel is air-filled and has a swivel lock
- It can be folded under the trailer when not in use
- Allows for quicker transitions between different modes of use
This makes it even easier to switch between, for example, cycling and strolling.
On Outback, the solution is also user-friendly:
- The stroller wheel is not air-filled and does not have a swivel lock
- It must be fully removed when not in use and stored in the cargo area
- Switching is still quick and easy
Increased cargo capacity
The difference is not the size of the cargo space, but how much weight it is designed to carry:
- Outback Next: up to 8 kg
- Outback: up to 5 kg
Outback Next offers a higher load capacity in the cargo area, providing greater everyday flexibility—whether you're dropping off at daycare, running errands, or packing for longer trips.
Disc brake compatibility
Outback Next can be equipped with a disc brake kit:
- Mounted once on the rear wheels and always ready to use
- Provides better control at higher speeds and on downhill sections
- Can be used with both jogging wheels and stroller wheels
- Required for jogging and running
On Outback, the solution differs:
- The brake is integrated into the jogging wheel
- Must be installed each time the jogging wheel is used (though this is quick and easy)
- It is not possible to use the brake together with the stroller wheel
This makes Outback Next a more flexible option if you want braking control regardless of usage mode.
Upgraded front and improved usability
Both models include sunshade, mesh, and a front cover, but Outback Next features an upgraded and more functional front design:
- Dual front zippers (compared to one on Outback)
- Flap with magnetic closure at the bottom for easier opening and closing
- Extended sunshade that is easier to adjust
- Improved ventilation for better comfort in varying weather
- Tighter and more robust base for better protection against dirt, rain, and slush
Outback also offers good ventilation and functional solutions, but Outback Next has been redesigned to make everyday use even easier and more versatile.
Reclining seats
One of the differences between the models is seat adjustability:
- Outback Next: 4 positions
- Outback: 3 positions
Outback Next reclines 19° from its starting position (117°–136°), while Outback reclines 14° (120°–134°). Outback Next also starts in a more upright position, offering a wider adjustment range.
In addition, Outback Next provides more flexibility with one extra recline position.
Replaceable outer fabric = longer lifespan
Outback Next is designed with durability and maintenance in mind:
- Replaceable outer fabric that can be changed in just a few minutes
- Ability to refresh both appearance and functionality over time
Additionally, the front cover can be replaced on both models.
The difference is that Outback Next also allows you to replace the entire outer fabric, which can extend the product’s lifespan. Outback does not offer this solution and comes with a fixed outer fabric.
New construction and improved design
Outback Next includes several structural improvements:
- Updated design
- Tighter and more robust base for better protection against rain, snow, and slush
- New folding mechanism with a lock for easier transport and storage
- Upgraded frame and improved interior layout
Outback also has a solid base and good construction, but the base on Outback Next is developed to be even tighter and more durable.
This provides increased protection in demanding conditions and a more robust feel in use.
What’s the same?
Both models share many important features:
- Solid aluminum frame with roll bar
- Low center of gravity for good stability
- Approved according to current safety standards
- Can be used with e-bikes
- Available as both single and double seaters
- Easy switching between different uses (cycling, strolling, jogging, hiking and skiiing)
- Soft and comfortable seats for children
- Top window with sunshade
- Height-adjustable handlebar
- Thoughtful and user-friendly design
